SENAYA COUTURE was born from a life lived between worlds—and created for the generations that follow.My parents came to the United States as refugees from Afghanistan, carrying with them not only the weight of displacement, but the strength of a culture that refused to be lost. I was born and raised in New York—shaped by its pace, its diversity, its modernity—yet deeply rooted in the traditions my parents preserved within our home. From an early age, I learned what it meant to exist between two places. Two identities. Two ways of seeing the world. While America gave me opportunity and independence, Afghanistan gave me grounding. Over the years, I returned to my parents’ homeland more than ten times. And with each return, I found something I had not yet learned to name: peace. A sense of belonging. A quiet understanding of who I was beyond borders. Those journeys were not taken alone.
